Timings
Each session will last for 50 minutes. It’s up to you how many sessions you have. We will talk regularly about how you feel it is going and when you decide you have had enough counselling; we will work together towards ending our work together.
Fees
I offer an initial 30-minute phone call, at no charge, to find out if we want to work together. After this, phone and online sessions are £45 and face-to-face sessions are £50.
I may be able to offer a reduced rate for counselling students, or for those who are unwaged or in hardship, depending on my availability. Please let me know me if this applies to you.

The Counselling Room
If you choose face-to-face counselling in will be in a private, peaceful and self-contained garden room. There is free parking and a toilet. There is a step into the room and about ten metres to walk, mostly across grass; if you have accessibility needs that may make this problematic, please let me know, I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
How to get the most from your counselling:
It is a truism that that the more you put in the more you’ll get out of counselling, so it could help to ask yourself beforehand:
- Am I ready to explore my thoughts and feelings?
- Do I feel able to talk about things that are very personal or hard to talk about?
Decide what you want to get out of having counselling:
You might find it helpful to set some goals that you feel are achievable. You can discuss this with me in our first session so we can both aim to reach that goal together.
Talk about what's most important to you:
Counselling sessions are your time, and you decide what we talk about. You don't have to talk about anything you're not ready to talk about or do anything you don't want to do.
Tell me what’s working for you, and what isn’t:
I aim to make the sessions appropriate for you and for your needs.
Feel comfortable:
Make sure you are somewhere private, without distraction, where you feel comfortable and safe.
Understand that counselling can make you feel tired:
Plan to look after yourself after the session and try not to plan anything too strenuous.
Understand that counselling can make you feel worse before you feel better:
That can be part of the process. Please tell me if you think you are experiencing this. Working safely is extremely important.
Is there homework?
You might find it helpful to write a journal while having therapy, or to note down thoughts that come up for you between sessions. You are welcome to bring along memes or online content that you connect with; dreams that feel significant; art you have created; a poem or song that you can relate to; or photographs that are meaningful to you.
I may sometimes send you a relevant article, recommend a book, or send a worksheet or review to complete, though the majority of the work is done in the sessions.
